1 When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast
out many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the
Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you,
2 and when the LORD your God delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them and utterly destroy them.
You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them.
I.- These are the seven enemies that fought the Lord's nation of Israel with the
intentions of stopping them from inheriting the promised land.
a) 'Hittites' means terror. Descendants from Anac, the family of the giants.
They considered themselves greater than others because of their height.
A prideful look never humbles to think right, but instead, fights to the end to prove
their reason and what they believe they deserve.
b) The Girgashites lied to Joshua to escape from destruction and made him promise
them peace in the name of the Lord, causing Josua to disobey the commandment from GOD.
Joshua 9
c) The Amorites came from Babylon and established in Canaan, joining together with other
clans to ambush and attack in the forest, killing, stealing and destroying other communities.
II.- The Egyptians were the first enemies, having the Israelites as slaves for four hundred years
a) Just as when we lived our lives without Christ, we were slaves of sin.
b) Now as Christians, our goal is to get to heaven because that's what Jesus promises His disciples; we are those disciples.
c) but in the meantime, we deal with temptation in life that prevents us from reaching our goals
d) Here are seven enemies of defeat in life.
NKJ Proverbs 6:16-19
16 These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17 A proud look,
A lying tongue,
Hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.
Deuteronomy 7:l
"When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast out many nations before you,"
Deuteronomy 7:2
"and when the LORD your God delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them and utterly destroy them."
The Apostle Paul made reference of the scriptures;
NKJ 2 Corinthians 6:17-18
17 Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you."
18 "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty."
This is what we become in the presences of GOD.
NKJ Deuteronomy 7:6
"For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you
to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.
