The first of the seven enemies in Deuteronomy 7 are the giants called TERROR.
I-. Moses defeated the King of Bashan, a fertile ground, rich in prosperity, which was given to the half tribe of Manasseh.
a) NKJ Deuteronomy 3:11
"For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the giants. Indeed his bedstead was an iron bedstead.
(Is it not in Rabbah of the people of Ammon?) Nine cubits is its length and four cubits its width, according to the standard cubit.
b) The prosperity of that promised land was something to fight for, but Terror became a factor in their decisions.
c) The height of the king was considered the tallest man at that time; his people were a large family of giants in that region.
d) Tacko Fall, is a 7.6 ft tall Boston Celtics player. According to the Jewish history,
the correct height of Goliath and the king Og were superior to this basketball player.
• These cubit rods range from 523.5 to 529.2 mm (20.61 to 20.83 in) in length
and are divided into seven palms; each palm is divided into four fingers,
and the fingers are further subdivided.
• The Sumerian cubit its about 518.6 mm (20.42 in)
• Rabbi Avraham Chaim Naeh put the linear measurement of a cubit
at 48 centimetres (19 in).[15]
Avrohom Yeshaya Karelitz (the "Chazon lsh"), dissenting,
put the length of a cubit at 57.6 centimetres (22.7 in).
II- Ten of the twelve spies Moses sent to recognize the promised land were terrified to see the sons of Anak.
a) Anak is the name of the giant's patriarch in that land.
b) NKJ Numbers 13:28
"Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large;
moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.
c) NKJ Numbers 13:33
"There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants);
and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight."
• This is exactly what happens when the arrogance of the enemy controls our emotions or our fears.
• Doubting the power and capacity of the LORD reduces our faith.
• We can't fear our challenges, responsibilities, our giants, because we are not alone.
III- Our FATHER GOD defeats nations, defeats giants, and HE provides the tools for victory.
a. GOD told Moses not to be afraid of the king Og;
NKJ Deuteronomy 3:2
"And the LORD said to me, 'Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people
and his land into your hand; you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.'
b. Joshua told the people;
NKJ Numbers 14:8-9
8."If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, 'a land which flows with milk and honey,'
9 "Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread;
their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them."
c. David said to king Saul.
NKJ 1 Samuel 17:37
Moreover David said, "The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear,
He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." And Saul said to David, "Go, and the LORD be with you!"
What can you say to yourself when things look impossible to do, to continue, to give the next step in life.
When you feel lonely, when sadness is harder than tears, and giants break our dreams with no rest and sorrows ...
What can we say?
NKJ Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
