The Bible is Simple to Understand

There is, in the religious world today, a lot of disagreement and even arguments about what the text of certain verses mean. This has led to a multiplicity of churches. It is unfortunate because the bible is the WORD of God which cannot have multiple meanings.

The bible is easy to understand if we simply read each verse and not try to "explain" what it means. Instead we need to believe that a verse means what it says the way in which it is written without any "explanation".

The problem is many people want to say that certain verses do not mean what they say for a multitude of reasons. However, after all the examples, justification, arguments and definitions are given, the verse remains as it is recorded in the bible and still means what it says.

There are a lot of verses that are explained away and totally misrepresent the teaching of the verses. It is not my objective to try to unravel the incorrect meaning of these verses. There are other pages on this web site that do that. My objective is to show that accepting bible verses the way they are written is a simple and the easiest way to understand them.

The basis for most misinformation in the religious world today begins with the verse
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. It is claimed this verse teaches us that when we have faith we immediately have unconditional salvation; i.e., eternal salvation is at the point of faith. To accept this invalid claim would make it "necessary" to "explain" the verses below, as they do. It is not my purpose to document why this is not true. Therefore, in keeping with the intent of this page, I leave it to the reader to understand that this verse tells us, faith is yes, but unconditional salvation is no.

We must conclude, there is more implied in believing, than only belief in God and His Son.

Remember what Jesus said to the apostles when He went away. He said he would send a comforter, or helper, which is the Holy Spirit of truth, to bring to their remembrance all that he had taught them and all things yet to come. This helper would guide all the instructions and commandments written in the New Testament and will need no explanation.
John 14:16 I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Therefore, please read the following scriptures the way they are written, as guided by the Holy Spirit, without explanation.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 22:16 And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord

Mark 16:15-16 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him.

Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

1 Peter 3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

Ephesians 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

Acts 20:7 Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight

1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

1 Corinthians 16:1-2 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also:
On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.

God takes His word seriously. He will hold those accountable who distort His meaning. Peter warns that destruction comes to those who do so; as Paul writes, we cannot wrest, distort, twist (or "explain") the scriptures.
2 Peter 3:16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

I have used the word "explain" throughout this page to mean "change the meaning" of a verse. The bible has been guided by the words of Jesus and the helper. This is not to say that we should never use multiple verses to better understand what is written. We just cannot "explain" the text of any verse and change its meaning. It is unfortunate that the word of God is treated this way instead of treating it as it is written.

There are many more verses that could be on to this page but adding more would make this page too long. Therefore, I will leave you with the understanding that the bible is simple and easy if you read verses and do not try to "explain" them; just accept what is written as the WORD of God.
